Gonna Stick My Sword in the Golden Sand: A Vietnam Soldier's Story has just been released. The title comes from a stanza of the gospel traditional, Down by the Riverside, with its refrain--"Ain't gonna study war no more." Golden Sand is a bold, dark, and intense retelling of the Vietnam experience through the eyes of an army scout that is […]

The Wild Reed's 2015 Queer Appreciation series concludes with dance troupe Full Frontal Freedom's powerful sequence of "emotions in movement" performed to Macklemore and Ryan Lewis' hit 2013 song "Same Love," which has become an anthem for LGBT equality. The title of this post comes from the fact that even as we celebrate r […]

    • Daisy or Ichabod? August 2, 2015
My sister has just informed me that Daisy the kitten is actually a male. I guess I should come up with another name ... I'm thinking "Ichabod" :) The kitten is getting more used to me but the other kittens, the three who suddenly appeared in the yard a few weeks ago with their mom, are still pretty feral. Last evening they ran out into the str […]

“SNAP Needs Our Help”: Guest Post Response

Following the post on these pages by Frank Cocozzelli  “SNAP Needs our Help“, we have received these words of thanks in the comments thread.  As comments can easily be missed, I have copied it as a Guest Post , where it will have greater visibility.

-Terence

Good morning,

Thank you so much for your kind words of encouragement. We have made great progress in the past few years but sadly rarely a day goes by that we do not hear from new victims of clergy abuse.
Our National Conference will be in Chicago the weekend of July 30 to August 1. We would like to invite your readers to join us for this event. Speakers in the past have included Frank Keating, former head of the bishops lay review board, Fr. Tom Doyle, a canon lawyer and out spoken critic of the way the hierarchy has handled the abuse crisis and Jason Berry a journalist who has written extensively about this issue.Thank you again for all your help. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help.
